Body

Summary and Background Information

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) is requesting approval for the annexation of roughly 14 acres that is the future location of the Commerce City - 72nd station and additional right-of-way for Colorado Boulevard. The station property to be annexed is located between E. 72nd Avenue and E. 70th Avenue as well as west of the O’Brian Canal. The additional right-of-way to be annexed for Colorado Boulevard is also located between E. 72nd Avenue and E. 70th Avenue. All of the station property is currently zoned with an Adams County Industrial - 2 zoning designation and is requested to be rezoned to Commerce City Public via zoning case Z-930-16, which is being processed concurrently.

The submittal of this application is the culmination of collaborative efforts between RTD and the City of Commerce City. The proposed annexation and zoning will bring the Commerce City - 72nd station property into the city allowing for the development of the property.
