Title
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING RESOLUTION 2012-08 AND APPROVING WALK.BIKE.FIT COMMERCE CITY, A MULTIMODAL ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION PLAN
Body
Summary and Background Information:
Based on input gathered during community meetings in 2011, the Walk.Bike.Fit plan describes the vision and plan for a more walkable and bikable-friendly Commerce City, an integral part of improving and integrating active travel - which regularly engages people in walking, biking and other non-motorized transportation - throughout the City. The planning effort was made possible through a Tri-County Health Department Communities Putting Prevention to Work initiative grant received December 2010.
Parks & Recreation staff presented the draft plan to City Council in February 2012 prior to obtaining additional public comment throughout February and at an open house held February 22. The plan was then presented to City Council and adopted by Resolution 2012-08 on March 5, 2012.
The Walk.Bike.Fit Mtulti-Modal Active Transportation plan was then approved by the Development Review Team and presented to the Planning Commission at a hearing November 7, 2012 at which time they approved the plan. It is now recommended forward to City Council for adoption by ordinance.
