Body
Summary and Background Information:  As a part of the Natural Resource Damages settlement associated with the Rocky Mountain Nation Wildlife Refuge, Commerce City received $2.6 million to acquire and restore two properties along Sand Creek. These properties are near the confluence of Sand Creek and the South Platte River along the Sand Creek Regional Greenway. They have been used for industrial purposes for many years and Commerce City will restore them as closely as possible to their original state, creating 32 acres of wildlife habitat and open space adjacent to the Sand Creek Trail.
