Summary & Background
On March 29, 2024, the City of Commerce City (“City”) submitted three Adams County Open Space grant applications for a total request of $1,525,000. The first application was for the Paradice Island Aquatic Facility Leak Repair and Re-plaster Project, which is a comprehensive waterline replacement project and re-plaster of three pools. The City requested $1,000,000 in grant funding of the total project cost of $4,261,986.
The second application was for the Ragweed Open Space and River Run Park Improvement Project. This project would install new irrigation at the River Run Park ball field and two areas within the Ragweed Open Space, as well as install a new playground at the River Run Park. The City requested $500,000 in grant funding of the total project cost of $1,100,000.
The final project was the Pioneer Park Scoreboard Replacement. This project will replace four scoreboards at the baseball fields at Pioneer Park. The City requested $25,000 of a total project cost of $105,327.
On July 9, 2024, the Adams County Board of County Commissioners awarded $1,000,000 for the Paradice Island Repair and Re-plaster Project, $500,000 for the Ragweed Open Space and River Run Park Improvement Project and $25,000 for the Pioneer Park Scoreboard Replacement Project.
Adams County agrees to disburse grant funds to the City to provide reimbursement for the payment of project costs upon successful completion of the project, or on a quarterly basis. Itemized Reimbursement Requests are required for reimbursements.
