A RESOLUTION DECLARING A VACANCY ON THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE CITY AND DESIGNATING THE APPLICATION DEADLINE AND MATERIALS TO FILL THE VACANCY

Summary and Background Information:
On Monday, September 26, 2022, Council Member Meghan Grimes announced her resignation from the City Council. The Commerce City Charter Section 4.5 states that "[t]he existence of a vacancy shall be established by competent evidence thereof and placed on record in the council minutes. The council shall determine the validity of the evidence and decide when a vacancy exists."
Council will need to make a motion to adopt the resolution declaring the vacancy and designating application deadline and materials for applicants. Council may also determine if they would like to conduct interviews, and how Council would like to conduct its selection process.
