Title
Transportation Master Plan Update
Body
A Transportation Master Plan (TMP) is a long-term, strategic document that guides how a city will plan for and develop its transportation system to meet future needs and goals. A TMP acts as a blueprint for improving and expanding the network, considering all modes of transportation, including roads, transit, walking, cycling, and more. A TMP also provides a roadmap of prioritized short-term and long-term investments needed to accomplish the goals outlined in the Plan. Commerce City’s existing Transportation Master Plan was adopted in 2010, but work on a new and improved plan began in 2024. Once adopted, the new Transportation Master Plan will represent a year and a half long planning process that assessed existing conditions of the transportation network, engaged key stakeholders, and conducted extensive GIS-based analysis of data forecasts to assess the current and future transportation and mobility needs of Commerce City.
The purpose of this presentation is to provide Council with a summary of the work done to date on the project. Future action for the TMP will include a draft overview with City Council and eventually the formal adoption of the updated TMP by City Council.
