Title
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AWARD OF A CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE E. 62ND AVENUE & HOLLY STREET IMPROVEMENTS TOSILVA CONSTRUCTION, INC

Body
Summary & Background

The City's project scope consists of concrete bump out calming islands at each of the four corners of the E. 62nd Avenue & Holly Street intersection, which will provide a sanctuary for bicyclists and pedestrians crossing the busy intersection, decrease the length for the bicyclists and pedestrians to cross, as well as slow motorists down approaching the intersection and traveling through the narrowed travel lanes of the intersection. Minor drainage, utility, and traffic signal enhancements will be made with this project at the intersection. Striping improvements on Holly Street from E. 60th Avenue to E. 64th Avenue will define adequate bicycle lanes increasing multi-modal connectivity through this area in the City (see Attached Project Map). The project’s outcome will improve safety and efficiency for motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, and residents in the area as well as improve roadway conditions for all users.

The engineering design has been completed by ICON Engineering, Inc. The City advertised this project for Request for Bids from November 21, 2023 to December 21, 2023. The City received eight bids from contractors. The lowest responsible bidder was Silva Construction, Inc. with a bid of $315,190.51.
