Summary and Background Information:
The city council legislative committee is the official body that affirms positions based on the council-approved legislative principles document and approves additional staff advocacy on an issue or position, including testimony. The committee meets as needed throughout the year to advance federal advocacy work and update its annual legislative policy priorities. The committee meets weekly during the General Assembly to receive staff updates on legislation with possible direct or indirect impacts on the city, its employees, businesses and residents.
