RESOLUTION APPROVING THE Settlement OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE CITY’s Litigation with DOUGLAS N. DARR and THE ADAMS COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS REGarding PRISoner space at the adams county jail

Body

Summary and Background Information:  The City of Commerce City joined the cities of Aurora, Northglenn, Thornton, and Federal Heights in a lawsuit against former Adams County Sheriff Doug Darr and the Adams County Board of County Commissioners challenging Sheriff Darr's attempt to limit the number of municipal prisoners housed in the Adams County Jail.  Late last year, after mediation, the parties entered into a temporary settlement agreement allowing the cities to house up to 65 munincipal prisoners, free of charge, in the Adams County Jail.  The temporary agreement is expiring and the parties now wish to enter into a more permanent agreement that will allow the cities to house up to 80 municipal prisoners, free of charge, in the Adams County Jail.
