Summary and Background Information:
At the April 17, 2023 Meeting, the City Council passed a motion directing staff to draft a twelve month moratorium on new retail and medical marijuana store to be implemented for licenses in Wards I and II. This ordinance establishes a moratorium on the processing of all licenses for retail marijuana or medical marijuana stores in Wards I and II that are received after August 1, 2023, though existing applications will continue to be processed. The section is set to sunset on July 31, 2024. Staff will work internally on various Code updates to address Council's expressed concerns with respect to the permitted locations of marijuana stores in the City.
