Proclamation declaring May 17-23, 2015, as Commerce City Public Works Week

Body
Summary and Background Information:
Commerce City is joining communities nationwide this month to recognize National Public Works Week (NPWW) May 17-23. Simply put, there would be no community without the quality of life public works provides. Whether it is maintaining roads and bridges, plowing snow, or managing the many construction projects taking place in Commerce City, the public works department is an integral part of how our city functions. Due to the essential nature of public works service the theme for this year's celebration is, "Community Begins Here." The proclamation recognizes the work of the department and kicks of a week of internal and external activities, including a community open house.

Residents and council members are invited to celebrate NPWW May 19 anytime from 4-8 p.m. The open house will provide guests with opportunities to tour the facility, paint snow plows, see how signs are made, hop into one of our trucks and learn about how the public works department serves Commerce City. Live music, free food, games and contests are also planned.
