Body

Summary & Background

The Commerce City Police Department (CCPD) saw a need to establish a Co-Response Program that pairs officers with behavioral health professionals to provide prompt on-scene assessment, stabilization, referrals and follow-up for those in-need. As a result of this need, CCPD applied for grant funding from the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ) through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.

On May 30, 2024, CCPD was granted $208,400 from the Colorado DCJ, and notified that the funding source had switched from JAG to the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP). The switch in funding source does not have an impact on CCPD’s implementation plan for the Co-response Program.
