Body

Summary and Background Information

The Colorado Division of Criminal Justice opened a call for applications for the Crime Prevention through Safer Streets Grant Program. Through a partnership between the Commerce City Police and Public Works departments, an application was submitted to request funding for a core city street light study.

The City was selected for funding and awarded $100,000 to conduct a street light study in Core Commerce City. This project will include a street light study to identify the highest priority locations for lighting installation in Core Commerce City, as well as the design and development of a recommended street lighting plan. Improved lighting in this area will reduce accidents, enhance pedestrian and bicyclist safety, and deter criminal activity.
