Title
96th Avenue Sound Walls Feasibility and Direction Discussion
Body
Summary and Background Information:
The City of Commerce City is widening East 96th Avenue from Chambers Road to Tower Road from two lanes, one lane in each direction, to a four-lane median divided roadway. According to the City’s 2010 Traffic Study, E. 96th Avenue is classified as a minor arterial roadway and was planned to be a 4-lane median divided roadway. Staff hired ACIU Environmental Consulting to perform a noise study for this section of E. 96th Avenue. A study is not required for the widening project. However, Council requested a noise study for this project to be conducted. This presentation discusses the findings of the study and the costs associated with moving forward with sound walls.
