A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A CITY COUNCIL SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY AS COUNCIL POLICY CP-#24

Summary and Background Information: This resolution adopts a social media policy applicable to the City Council. The policy will be located in the City Council Policies as #CP-24. To enable compliance, this resolution is made effective on January 1, 2021.
As stated in the policy, #CP-24 provides guidelines and rules for the use of social media by councilmembers in their official capacity as individual members of the Council. This policy is intended to protect the rights of the public, to ensure compliance with existing law, and to protect the City and councilmembers from liability. This policy is not intended to restrict the rights of individual councilmembers from expressing their view or interacting with constituents.
