Title
QCI Tower Road Project Analysis
Body
Summary and Background Information: In January 2012, the Quality Community Initiative (QCI) presented to City Council the results of their year-long process of engaging the community in a series of neighborhood meetings, as well as through mailed surveys, to determine long-term capital improvement goals that are well supported by the committee and the community. This presentation also included the committee's recommendations for proposed capital projects and funding mechanisms to achieve these goals. During the February retreat, the City Council discussed the committee's report and recommendations, and recommended further action and analysis be taken for the proposed Tower Road and 88th Avenue/Rosemary Street improvements.
In summary, the Tower Road project would widen Tower Road from 80th Avenue to 104th Avenue with 4 lanes of concrete pavement, curb, gutter, sidewalk, storm drainage, drainage structures, traffic signals, and street lighting. The total cost is approximately $53.6 million ($5 million for design). Approximately 18 to 24 months is required for the design, and construction would be approximately 24 months.
