Summary and Background Information

On Aug. 21, 2022,  a medical emergency arose at the Eagle Pointe Recreation Center when a patron suffered distress while playing basketball and required immediate medical assistance. Staff from the front desk and aquatics called 911 for assistance and were unable to detect the patron’s vital signs. Staff applied chest compressions, rescue breaths, and effectively utilized an AED unit until the patron showed signs of life and became responsive and alert. Shortly after, paramedics arrived and transported the patron to a hospital for treatment.

Staff did a tremendous job staying calm, providing care, and successfully saving this individual’s life. The city wishes to recognize Norma Arnwine, Samantha Connelly, Nate Mask, Tanya Romero, and Tiffany Setelin for their quick action and assistance in coming to the aid of a community member in this emergency situation.
