Title

A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CONVEYANCE OF REAL PROPERTY GENERALLY LOCATED IN THE AREA OF 96TH AVENUE AND REUNION PARKWAY TO SCHOOL DISTRICT 27J  FOR A SCHOOL SITE

Body

Summary and Background Information

On January 22, 2024 staff of the City and of School District 27J presented draft site plans for the construction of a new high school number 4 on property received in dedication for the fulfillment of requirements for the Reunion PUD.  This site was intended to provide approximately 48 acres for the school site and approximately 60 acres for park land.  Since receiving the deed to this property in April 2023 the two staffs of the school district and city have been working to ensure that the division of property will provide the best school site and park site.

The agenda item for June 3rd is to transfer the 48.435 acres to School District 27J in furtherance of the intent of the prior dedication of land to the City.  The approval of this item will allow school construction to proceed and allow the City to proceed with design of the community park.  Because some of the park amenities will be located on this park parcel staff will be presenting a revised joint use agreement to the City Council in the near future.  This agreement will outline conditions of use for both entities of the other’s property and improvements.
