Title
Proclamation Declaring November 26, 2022 as Small Business Saturday in Commerce City
Body
Summary and Background Information:
Small Business Saturday is November 26th. This national initiative was founded in 2010 by American Express and is co-sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration to remind consumers to support independent small business owners during part of the busiest shopping season of the year. Spending among U.S. consumers who shopped at independent retailers and restaurants on Small Business Saturday in 2021 reached an estimated $23.3 billion dollars.
The Small Business Saturday in Commerce City Proclamation is in support of all of the small business owners that choose to operate their businesses in Commerce City. Small businesses are an important part of the City's economy. There are over 1,700 businesses within the city and a majority of them have less than 20 employees. The City's economic development division partnered with the Commerce City Chamber of Commerce on a shop local program called Shop Where I Live. This online marketplace platform is free for Commerce City's independent small businesses. The platform currently has 46 small businesses listed that can be found at www.commercecity.shopwhereilive.com/. Residents are encouraged to support Commerce City's independent small businesses on November 26th - Small Business Saturday.
