Summary & Background
On August 30, 2024, the City of Commerce City (“City”) submitted the following three Adams County Open Space grant applications for a total request of $1,389,000.
1. The first application was for the Eagle Pointe Recreation Center pool re-plaster. The City requested $80,000 in grant funding with a match of $135,880 being provided from the Parks, Recreation and Golf Preservation Project Account. This project was completed in the Fall 2024.
2. The second application was for the Pioneer Park irrigation system replacement. This project would install a new irrigation system at Pioneer Park. The City requested $1,300,000 in grant funding with a match of $1,750,000 being provided from the Parks, Recreation and Golf Preservation Project Account. The estimated project dates are January 2025 - June 2026.
3. The third project was the Monaco Park Story Walk. The City requested $9,000 with a match of $6,000 being provided from the Monaco Park Renovation Project Account. The anticipated date of project completion is April 2025.
On November 19, 2024, the Adams County Board of County Commissioners awarded $80,000 for the Eagle Pointe Recreation Center pool re-plaster, $1,300,000 for the Pioneer Park irrigation system project, and $9,000 for the Monaco Park Story Walk.
Adams County agrees to disburse grant funds to the City to provide reimbursement for the payment of projects’ costs upon successful completion of the projects, or on a quarterly basis. Itemized reimbursement requests are required for reimbursements.
