Review of Draft Letter to Colorado Department of Public Health with Recommended Edits

Summary and Background Information:
At a recent meeting the Mayor and City Council expressed concern regarding continued violations and exceedances by Suncor and discussed the need to request greater involvement by the Colorado Department of Public Health. Staff was instructed to prepare a letter to the Department requesting greater oversight and additional monitoring sites to better inform the community of exceedances.
Staff has drafted the letter with the assistance of the City Attorney and outside counsel and it is before the Mayor and Council for review and concurrence. If the Council agrees the Mayor will sign and submit the letter to the Department of Public Health.
