Summary and Background Information:
On May 15, 2023, the City Council adopted Ordinance 2488, adopting the 2021 International Fire Code along with certain amendments. This adoption replaced the previously adopted 2018 International Fire Code, and did not include the amendments that were passed on June 7, 2021 by Ordinance 2333, which had authorized the limited use of legal fireworks in Commerce City. The proposed ordinance is necessary in order to permit the sale and use of Fireworks within the city limits for the dates and times as outlined in Exhibit A (Exhibit B w/markups).
