Title
Vehicle Acquisitions for Public Works and Police Department
Body
Summary & Background
During the June 26, 2023 Study Session, staff presented a “current state” message to City Council regarding the status of the Commerce City fleet that included no hybrid vehicles, no electric vehicles (EV’s) and no EV Charging stations. Council concurred with staff recommendations to move toward purchasing hybrid vehicles as a gap solution while EV infrastructure is established and chargers are installed. This Study Session will provide an update of current vehicle purchases and information regarding fuel savings measures, EV chargers, and the fleet makeup 18 months later in response to Council’s direction in June, 2023.
In addition, City Council will be given background to justify a request to authorize the use of Retained Earnings for the purchase of Police and Public Works vehicles at the March 3, 2025 and April 7, 2025 Ord 2665.
