AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 2013 BUDGET OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE CITY, COLORADO BY THE RECOGNITION OF THE RTD BUS ROUTE GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $444,000 FOR THE SUPPORT OF A NORTH AREA EXPRESS BUS ROUTE AND THE AUTHORIZATION OF THE EXPENDITURE THEREOF.

Summary and Background Information: This project will implement operations of a new regional bus service from E. 104th Ave and Tower Rd in Commerce City to Market Street Station in Denver. The route will provide three morning and three evening one-way peak trips. The route is proposed to make six stops in Commerce City along 104th Ave, three new and three existing. The route continues south on I-76 to I-270 to US-36, then south on Broadway to 70th Ave, then on the I-25 HOV lanes into Market Street Station with no additional stops. The route will offer connections to the AA, the 104th Ave and Revere St Park-n-Ride, and numerous bus routes at Mark Street Station.

Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends City Council approve Ordinance No. 1945 on first reading, allowing the city to accept and recognize funds applied for and awarded by RTD to fund a north area express bus route.
Suggested Motion: Approve on first reading and move to the consent or 2nd Reading agenda scheduled in one month.
