Proclamation declaring May 15-21, 2016 as Commerce City Police Week
Body
Summary and Background Information: In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge in Wahshington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. The Commerce City Police Department participates in Police Week as an opportunity to recognize the contributions of department employees. City Council's proclamation formally supports the men and women in uniform who serve the community each day with trust, respect, excellence, leadership and restraint.
