Title
A RESOLUTION AMENDING AND APPROVING A UTILITY EASEMENT ON CITY PROPERTY LOCATED ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF BUCKLEY ROAD BETWEEN E. 96TH AVE. AND E. 88TH AVE. TO UNITED POWER, INC. TO ACCOMMODATE AN UNDERGROUND ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION LINE
Body
Summary & Background
This resolution grants a 10-feet wide utility easement to United Power to install a new underground electrical distribution line along the east side of the abandoned Buckley Road between E. 96th Ave. and E. 88th Ave. located on City property (see Project Map). The proposed easement will not be in conflict with future City facilities or infrastructure.
United Power’s standard practice for new installations, rebuilds and conversions has become to pursue easements from private property owners. The purpose of the project is to convert the existing overhead electric line (which is outdated infrastructure) located on the west side of Buckley Road to an underground line. The conversion to underground will provide a new electric line that meets industry standards and enhances safety/aesthetics. Additionally, the new underground electric line and connection points will create a more reliable and secure electrical system for providing services in this area, which is experiencing high growth.
A previous resolution; i.e., Resolution 2023-137 was passed by Council on 12/18/2023. In the review, there was a request by Sinclair Pipeline Company (operators of an underground high pressure jet fuel line serving DEN Airport) to change the angle of the crossing of easement to be perpendicular to the jet fuel line. This requires the United Power to slightly revise the easement. Staff are coming before Council with a new resolution authorizing a revised legal description of the easement property.
