Independent Commission to Review and Oversee Metro Districts

Summary and Background Information:
I would like to make a motion directing City staff to draft a resolution creating an independent commission (no councilmembers) composed of 9 citizens with equal representation (two from each ward and one at-large citizen) to oversee and review metro district activity and report to the City Council any findings.
The commission will work with City staff to engage outside professionals to perform audits of all metro districts within Commerce City limits. Professional service fees will be funded through the annual oversight fee that is charged to all metropolitan districts pursuant to the Commerce City Revised Municipal Code.
