Summary and Background Information:
In the fall of 2015, City Council requested information regarding the existing Parks, Recreation and Golf Advisory Committee.

History: The Recreation Advisory Board was established in 1984 as part of an IGA with ACSD14 and dissolved with a later IGA; named the Park and Recreation Advisory Committee in 1987; and the Park, Recreation and Golf Advisory Committee in 2014, members were recruited and appointed at the staff level. Under the guidelines pursuant to Council Policy #3, City Council may establish by resolution a City Council appointed Parks, Recreation and Golf Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Parks, Recreation and Golf Advisory Committee is to advise the City Council and City staff, through its designated representative and a City staff liaison, on matters related to City parks, trails, open space, golf and recreation facilities, programs, services and projects. The Committee may consist of up to 13 members: two (2) City Council members, plus eleven (11) citizens representative of the community at large, including eight (8) adult and three (3) youth. The committee will be facilitated by the Parks, Recreation and Golf department designee. Membership on the committee shall be publicly advertised and appointed by the City Council in accordance with the criteria established by applicable Council Policies.

Non-Council Members of the committee shall be appointed to three (3) year staggered terms and shall serve no more than two (2) consecutive terms or until his/her successor has been appointed. Council members shall be appointed for a two (2) year term to expire at the organizational meeting of the City Council held on the second Monday after the biennial regular municipal election, as provided in Section 4.3c of the City Charter.
