Title
South Adams County Fire Protection District - Impact Fee Study
Body
Summary and Background Information:
The Colorado legislature passed HB 1088, entitled the Public Safety Fairness Act, in June of 2016. This bill gives fire districts the ability to impose an impact fee on new development. The bill requires the approval of the City Council and the adoption of a formal IGA in order for the impact fee to be imposed. The South Adams County Fire Protection District hired a consultant who has completed an impact fee study for their jurisdiction. The South Adams County Fire Protection District would like to share the results of the study and allow the City Council to consider the fee proposal.
Commerce City has three separate fire districts that provide fire services within its cooperate boundaries. The City Council has heard from the Brighton Fire Rescue on their impact fee study. Staff has not received a response from the Sable Altura fire district about their intentions related to an impact fee proposal. City Council will then have the opportunity to consider impact fees from requesting fire service providers together, during a future study session.
