Title
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND SUPPORTING THE MAIN STREET PROJECT IN THE CITY OF COMMERCE CITY, COLORADO
Body
The Colorado Main Street program has $5.97 million allocated by SB21-252 to provide grants for local business owners to improve the energy efficiency and/or aesthetics of downtown commercial buildings to:
• increase property values and visual appeal
• increase sales and revenues
• reduce energy consumption and lower utility bills
• increase job retention/creation
• create a ripple effect of investment
• support main street/downtown businesses
Since the funding is limited, the state will review grant requests collected through municipalities for identified projects that fit the funding criteria and choose which projects to fund. All potential projects need to be completed by June 2022.
Commerce City staff will be submitting an application for identified projects by property owners and/or tenants in the Derby area that fit the stated criteria. Public projects and businesses that are not independently-owned are not eligible for project funding.
