Body

Summary and Background Information

The Potomac Street Bridge is located approximately 700 feet north of Highway 2 and exists as the only established means of access for the residential properties north of the O’Brian Canal. The Potomac Street Bridge was built in 1940 and is a steel truss bridge. Potomac Street is designated as a local street from Highway 2 to where it terminates, just north of the Potomac Street Bridge. The Potomac Street Bridge was inspected on 01/08/2014 and received the following ratings; Sufficiency Rating 11.6 out of 100 - Structurally Deficient (SD), and a Condition rating of Poor. The Public Works Department applied for CDOT Bridge Funding for its replacement in 2017 and was awarded $760,000 in 2020. Alfred Benesch & Company was hired to design a new bridge. The grant dollars can only be used towards construction that will begin in November 2021.

Resolution 2020-45 passed on July 6, 2020. The staff memo and IGA that were included in that packet are also attached here for your reference. The resolution approved signing the IGA; however the grant dollars still need to be recognized.
