Body
Summary and Background Information:
Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. This year's Small Business Week is April 30-May 6, 2023 and celebrates the resiliency and tenacity of America’s entrepreneurs who are doing their part to power our nation’s economy.
Small businesses are an important part of Commerce City's economy. There are nearly 1,700 businesses within the city and over 80 percent of them have less than 20 employees. The city's Economic Development Division runs the Commerce City Small Business Resource Center (SBRC) in Derby, providing bilingual programs and services to small businesses. City staff partner with local chambers of commerce and Adelante. These organizations also support small businesses.
Commerce City, in support of Small Business Week, joins in this national effort and recognizes the contributions of small businesses in the city by adopting the attached proclamation.
