Summary and Background Information:
Commerce City has been recognized as a "Tree City USA" by the National Arbor Day Foundation for the 22nd consecutive year. This is a testament to the city's promotion and interest in planting of trees in residential areas, as well as city-owned parks, trails and open space.

To celebrate and promote Arbor Day this year, parks and recreation department staff will be:
·       Handing out seedlings and an educational tree care tips sheet at the April 15 City Council meeting.
·       Giving tree seedlings to children in Kinder Kids class on Thurs. April 18 and educating students about trees.
·       Promoting the Sand Creek Regional Greenway "Race for Open Space" 5k walk/run, free Kids Fun Run & Earth Day Fest on Sat. April 20.
