Summary and Background Information

Commerce City Police Department will be using the JAG funds to purchase Body Armor Rifle Plates and Ballistic Helmets for sworn members of the police department.  Today, police officers are faced with an increase threat of high powered weapons and the need for additional body armor protection is vital for their protection.  Locally, as well as Nationally, we are seeing more gun violence occurring daily.  Active shooter incidents are also occurring more frequently and the question is not if an active shooter incident will occur in our community but when it will happen in our community.  The purchase of this essential life-saving equipment will aid in protecting our officers as they respond to today's dangerous environment.
