Summary and Background Information:
The Commerce City Information Technology department is upgrading communications cabling in City facilities including the Civic Center. This project will replace aging CAT5e cabling with upgraded CAT6a cabling to meet the technological demands of the City's technology now and into the future. This new infrastructure will bolster network capabilities and improve service to every workstation. One of City Council's Strategic Goals is High-Performing Government and this project lays the foundation for the future technology that empowers a high-performing government allowing Commerce City to better serve the residents in the City.
The costs for this project are part of the approved budget.
The project would tentatively kick off in January 2025 and the project is anticipated to be complete in by June 2025. The City has conducted an RFP process in accordance with the City's procurement policy.

The City received four responses to the RFP. The IT Department evaluated all four vendors for functionality, technical and security requirements, approach to system implementation, and support. Piper stood out as the best solution for Commerce City.
