RESOLUTION APPROVING FUNDING OF THE REGIONAL LANDLORD RECRUITMENT PROGRAM

Body

Summary and Background Information

The Metro Mayors Caucus recently joined Colorado Housing Connects to announce a new regional Landlord Incentive Program, recognizing the regional nature of the challenge of ending homelessness and the important role that landlords can play in helping individuals and families find a safe place to call home. The incentive fund will be available to local property owners and landlords in the seven-county metro area who agree to rent their available apartments or homes to individuals with housing vouchers who participate in the regional Coordinated Assessment and Housing Placement System, administered by the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative. The fund offers caring and community-minded landlords up to $1,000 to help cover costs associated with vacancies, damages and any repairs that would occur while their tenant is in a binding lease agreement. More information is available at Colorado Housing Connects at 1-844-926-6632 or www.coloradohousingconnects.org.

Launched with $10,000 in seed money from the Metro Mayors Caucus, the program is now in excess of $54,000 thanks to the contributions of the following communities:

Denver $15,000

Aurora $10,000

Metro Mayors Caucus $10,000

Golden $3,000

Boulder $2,500

Lakewood $2,500

Cherry Hills Village $1,000

Englewood $1,000
