Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF COMMERCE CITY AND THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR SIGNAL HEAD AND BACKPLATE REPLACEMENTS

Body

Summary & Background

The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the execution of an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) by and between the City of Commerce City and the Colorado Department of Transportation for Signal Head and Backplate Replacements.

The City applied for a Highway Safety Improvements Program (HSIP) grant in 2020 to replace 26 traffic signal heads and the backplates on an additional 194 signals (see Attachment 1 for a breakdown of locations). Backplates are the fluorescent/black plastic piece around the actual traffic signal heads (see image below). The improvements will promote safer travel by making signal more visible to drivers.
