Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF GRANT AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF COMMERCE CITY AND ADAMS COUNTY REGARDING FUNDING FOR A STORY WALK AT MONACO PARK

Body

Summary and Background Information

On August 30, 2024, the City of Commerce City (“City”) submitted an Adams County Open Space grant application in the amount of $9,000 to add a Story Walk to Monaco Park. A match of $6,000 is being provided from the Monaco Park Renovation Project Account.

A Story Walk is an innovative initiative designed to promote literacy, physical activity and community engagement. The Story Walk involves de-constructing a children’s book, laminating its pages and mounting them along a walking path in the park. As visitors walk the path, they can read the story page by page - making the experience both educational and physically engaging. This added amenity will complement the recent renovations at Monaco Park.

On November 19, 2024, the City was awarded an Adams County Open Space Grant for $9,000 to install the Story Walk at Monaco Park. The anticipated date for project completion is April 2025.

Adams County agrees to disburse grant funds to the City through reimbursement for the payment of costs upon successful completion of the project, or on a quarterly basis. Itemized reimbursement requests are required for reimbursements. If the project takes two full years to complete, the reimbursement request for the final period of the project must be received by November 19, 2026 to remain compliant with the Project Completion Date. Reimbursements disbursed from Adams County shall not exceed 60% of total project costs with cumulative reimbursements totaling no more than $9,000 based on a total project cost of $15,000.
