SECOND AND FINAL READING OF AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 2023 BUDGET OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE CITY, COLORADO BY THE RECOGNITION OF THE ADAMS COUNTY OPEN SPACE GRANT FOR STAMPEDE PARK IMPROVEMENTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $375,000 AND THE AUTHORIZATION OF THE EXPENDITURE THEREOF.

Summary and Background Information:
As stewards of our public spaces, the PRG Division is focused on promoting resident health, safety and education through a variety of relevant programs and services for the community. One of our goals is to continue to activate the city with more amenities designed to promote fitness and wellness. Adams County agrees to disburse grant funds to the Applicant to provide reimbursement for the payment of project costs upon successful completion of the Project, or on a quarterly basis. Itemized Reimbursement Requests, as set forth below, are required for reimbursements. Should the Project take two full years to complete, the Reimbursement Request for the final period of the project must be received by November 29, 2024 to remain compliant with the Project Completion Date, as set forth above. Reimbursements disbursed from Adams County shall not exceed 58% of project costs incurred during the previous period with cumulative reimbursements totaling no more than $375,000 based on a total project cost of $650,000.
Stampede Park is 9-acre neighborhood park built in 2002 and located in the Buffalo Run West subdivision at 11755 Fairplay St.
On September 16, 2022 Commerce City submitted an Adams County Open Space grant application in the amount of $375,000 for improvements to Stampede Park. The overall project includes replacing the existing playground, upgrading the existing vault restroom to a plumbed restroom, replacing the existing irrigation system, and constructing a basketball court. Grant funds were requested for the new playground, the irrigation system and the basketball court with the remaining items serving as a $275,000 match.
On November 29, 2022 the Adams County Board of County Commissioners awarded $375,000 in Adams County Open Space grant funds for Stampede Park Improvements. Staff expects to complete these improvements in 2023.
