Title
Land Development Code Update
Body
Summary & Background
City Council adopted the current Land Development Code (LDC) (Ordinance #1798) in January 2009 and it went into effect on March 1, 2009. This Land Development Code was a comprehensive update to the Commerce City Zoning Ordinance, which included various topics dealing with development and land use, such as application types, zoning districts, use standards, subdivision procedures, design standards, and signs. The City is currently in the midst of the update process for the Land Development Code. The update and modernization of the Land Development Code is necessitated by numerous factors, such as the City’s consistent growth over the past decade, new and emerging technologies, general lifestyle changes of residents, housing affordability issues, and the community’s overall vision.
The consulting firm working on this project, Kendig Keast Collaborative, will present a brief status update of the overall process including accomplishments so far, on-going tasks, and a timeline for the completion of the project.
